* Next shoot *
The next shoot is scheduled for Sunday
January 25th at Severnside. More details
to follow.
Saturday 27th December 2008 - Clay shoot in the
Derbyshire Dales.
We had an excellent day at Ron's home in
rural Derbyshire with several hours of
clay shooting to varying degrees of
proficiency. Other highlights included a
barn barbecue and a demonstration of
Colin's musket.
Many thanks to Ron and Brenda for their
hospitality, to Lucy (who sadly couldn't
be with us) for the mince pies and to
everyone who contributed to the success
of the day.
Here are some pictures and video.

Sunday
30th November
- Guest day at Severnside
Another really good day and well attended considering the icy blast coming in off the Severn.
This was a day of ancient and modern. Apart from the usual collection of members' guns we
gave our club guns an outing. Below is Ron with our Accuracy International 7.62mm.
But the star attraction of the day was five and a half feet of reproduction musket made
by Colin and eagerly fired by all club members and guests.
Sunday
26th October - Guest day at Severnside
The meeting in October at our regular home at the Severnside range was again very
successful with moderate weather for the time of year.

Thursday 28th August 2008 - Visit to Worcester Norton Shooting Club
Five of us (the committee as it turns out) went up to Worcester Norton on Thursday evening. It was a fine evening and we spent
a good couple of hours putting various guns through their paces.

Sunday
27th July Guest day at Severnside
What an
excellent day!
Nearly every member of the club turned out on the hottest day of the year so far.
Our guests for the day all claimed to have enjoyed themselves even if the mercury was boiling out of the
thermometer at 31º in the blazing sun (and this is South Wales we're talking about!).
The event was greatly complemented by an excellent barbecue, organised by Lucy and mucked about with by most of the
blokes as is the tradition.
Here are some pictures:

I can't remember the last time anyone had to wait to shoot at one of our events. Such was the turnout on this occasion.

Here are some pictures from Sunday 29th June.
The weather was a major improvement on the May shoot but a strong crosswind made life very interesting!

The apparatus in the foreground is a chronograph which measures the speed of the bullets leaving
this .223 rifle. This is important to determine the consistency of the ammunition especially, as in
this case, when the ammunition was loaded by the shooter himself.

The 'Guest Day' at
Severnside on Sunday 25th May 2008 was a resounding success !
It was an excellent turnout, especially considering that the weather so damp and
gloomy. We even signed up a couple of new probationary members.
Thanks to
John for the photos and to everyone who contributed to the success
of this Guest Day.
